On February 9th and 10th, the Western Rail Star Journey delegation from Tsinghua University visited the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) to promote academic exchange and research. At the Institute for Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA), they met with its director, Rubén Lois González, and professor Diego Sande Veiga.

During their meeting, IDEGA and the Tsinghua delegation agreed on the importance of the transition to electric and intelligent mobility to balance the protection of the Galician capital’s historical heritage with the needs of its residents. Rubén Lois emphasized that academic cooperation between China and Europe is essential to address current global challenges such as climate change. The exchange focused on developing interdisciplinary talent and building intelligent transportation systems (ITS), addressing topics such as the application of core disciplines, urban governance, and educational innovation, thus strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.

The delegation also held talks with the Minister of Education of the Xunta de Galicia, Román Rodríguez, university authorities, and academics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). The agenda in Santiago included visits to the Galician Supercomputing Center (CESGA), the CiTIUS (Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies), the Faculty of Mathematics, and the Faculty of Economics and Business.
