At the meeting which took place on 26 march 2018, the jury of the V Prize “Jesús García Calvo” Research in Rural Development and Cooperative, agreed to grant the prize to the draft:
the Origin and consolidation of specialization milky in Galicia. An analysis of the face the present and the future of rural English (1920-2017).

In the V Edition of 2018 subscribe so open about a topic of research previously chosen, inviting researchers and scholars of the rural English to submit a preliminary plan for the development of a research work referred to this theme.
The goal is to reward a research work that contributes to the better knowledge and to the development of the rural environment and the cooperativism in Galicia, with the ultimate goal of improving the economic activities and the quality of life of the rural population.
BASES
The Prize Jesús García Calvo is a reference in the investigation of the cooperative and of the rural economy in Galicia. Instituted in the memory of which he was president and founder of Feiraco, during the four editions held so far has award-winning publications and scientific articles, doctoral theses, works of the end of the master’s degree and degree that stood out for their contributions to the survey the historical, geographic, economic, sociological and anthropological and for the development of the rural environment in English.

Research TOPIC
The cooperative agriculture and livestock in Galicia. Looking to the future.
With an approach prospective is to encourage the research of the process of development of the cooperative and the production of milk and its contribution to the social economy in Galicia, his relations with the new rural economy diversified, its ability of generating wealth and their territorial impact.
Are of interest to the analysis of the processes of attachment of the rural population to the territory, the technological innovation, the alternatives in the field of production, marketing and distribution of dairy products, the analysis of the prospective new markets, the protection of the rural environment and the opportunities of the energies sustainable.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
A document, in pdf file, with the preliminary draft of the research that you intend to carry out, you should contemplate a title, a justification of the interest, a few goals, a detailed index of the research, a methodology and a few bibliographical references.
A Curriculum Vitae brief of the person or persons who present the preliminary plan, also in a pdf file.
Submission of nominations
The nominations will be able to be individual or in a team and will be submitted before February 28, 2018 in the Secretariat of the IDEGA in schedule 9 to 14 hours, or sent by email to: IDEGA – Avda. of Sciences, Chalet no. 1 Campus Life – 15782 Santiago de Compostela.
The Jury
The Jury will determine on the draft elected before 31 march 2018. The winning work will be accepted at the preliminary design presented and is expected to be delivered in the same direction of the IDEGA before 30 September 2018.
The Jury will be composed by the following members:
- The Rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela, who will preside.
- The President of the Foundation Feiraco.
- A Counselor of CLUN.
- A member of the Scientific Council of the IDEGA, designed for this.
- The Director of the IDEGA, which will act as secretary.
- Three experts of recognized prestige in the field of rural development and cooperative in Galicia, appointed by common agreement between the IDEGA and Cooperatives Dairy United CLUN.
Resolution of the Award,
The Jury will award the prize to one of the applications, and may be declared desert if the majority considers that none of the candidates meets the required level.
Each member of the jury will select a contribution. Among the chosen shall be made successive rounds of voting, eliminating in each of them the one that has the lowest number of votes. In the final vote between the two contributions finalists will be determined the winner by a simple majority.
The decision will be inapelable.
Endowment
5000 euros.
The 50% with the delivery of a report part-29 June 2018 in the Secretariat of the Idega and the remaining 50% with the delivery of the final report of the results.
The Jury will be able to contemplate the proposal for the publication of the results in function of its quality and interest academic.
