
The seminar of the Doctoral Program in Regional Development and Economic Integration (DRIE) of this week will take place on Thursday 12 march at 16.30 h. Leads by the name ‘The Cost of (In)Credibility: Whispered, Surprise and the Investment Channel of the eu Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism” and will be taught by Andrés González, Gonzalo Rodríguez and Jesus Pereira.
In this seminar estúdiase the case of the Mechanism of Adjustment of Carbon at the Border (CBAM) and compared different scenarios according to which the economic agents expect that to occur and what finally happens. Using an economic model that includes several countries and sectors, the study shows that expectations about the application of CBAM can cause changes anticipated in the investment, especially in sectors intensive in carbon. In addition, it highlights that advertise and climate policy do not apply them can generate economic costs relevant, so that the credibility and the communication of public policies are key to a transition climate efficient.
