The 4th International Congress on Cooperation, Geopolitics, and Citizen Participation, organized by the University of Vigo (UVigo) in collaboration with IDEGA and the Moaña City Council, aims to bring together academics, social leaders, policymakers, and members of civil society to discuss the connections between international cooperation and geopolitics in a participatory context. Through presentations, roundtables, and workshops, it explores topics such as the impact of international projects, geopolitics, and citizen participation. It will take place on July 10th and 11th in the Moaña City Hall’s plenary hall, and registration is required.
The congress is notable for the joint participation of academics, secondary and university students, local and European politicians, and diverse social organizations, all sharing a common space for reflection and participation. This year, it will feature the participation of the Ambassador of Bosnia, Andree Zaimovic. In addition, the program offers a specific seminar for students on job opportunities in the European Union.
In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, the intersection of geopolitics and diversity emerges as a central theme for understanding the challenges and opportunities of our era. Geopolitics, as a discipline that analyzes power dynamics between nations and regions, cannot be separated from the social realities that define the populations inhabiting them. Issues of diversity—such as the rights of people with disabilities, gender perspectives, the experiences of refugees, and struggles for racial justice—are deeply intertwined with global phenomena, from migration and conflict to economic and climate policies. This congress seeks to create a space to explore how these two approaches can complement and enrich each other in the search for inclusive and sustainable solutions.
