Second International Conference ‘The Housing Crisis: Public Policies to Address a Chronic Problem’

The Institute for Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA) and the Economic and Social Council of Galicia (CES) are joining forces once again to create a forum for debate on one of the biggest problems facing our society: the difficulty of accessing housing. The 2nd International Conference, “The Housing Crisis: Public Policies to Address a Chronic Problem,” will be held on September 10th at the Pazo de Amarante, headquarters of the CES. The opening remarks will be delivered by the director of IDEGA, Rubén Lois, and the director of the CES, Manuel Pérez. Following this, the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Planning, María Martínez Allegue, will give a presentation entitled “The Galician Government’s Housing Agenda.”

The aim of this conference is for participants to share their perspectives on the current situation, characterized by rising prices and the implementation of a complex set of measures to alleviate the relative scarcity of affordable housing. The 2nd International Conference organized by IDEGA in collaboration with CES is part of the activities carried out within the framework of the research project ‘(Re)thinking Cities and Urban Form: New Policies to Recover Traditional Cities in Line with the Urban Agenda (RENEWPOLI)’, a scientific research initiative funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
