On Monday, October 5, Marcelo Maneiro Maneiro (Vice-Rector for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer), Rubén C. Lois González (Director of IDEGA), and Cristina Ares Castro-Conde (Professor of Political Science and Public Administration) will present the EU ASTER Chair: Active Subsidiarity for Territorial Equity and Regions. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the IDEGA assembly hall.
Awarded by the European Commission under the Jean Monnet Actions call and led by Cristina Ares Castro-Conde, EU ASTER was established to strengthen the USC’s contribution to European debates on multilevel governance, territorial cohesion, and the administrative capacity of regional and local authorities. The Chair is structured around three pillars—teaching, applied research, and knowledge transfer—and is integrated into two established USC entities: the EUROPEA research group and the Institute for Galician Studies and Development (IDEGA), which boasts a 50-year track record in socioeconomic and territorial development. This academic foundation links research on European integration with the practical challenges regional and local administrations face when implementing European policies, managing funds, and translating EU values into everyday practice.
